Raised on Long Island, Scott began his career with the game in the highly regarded Three Village Lacrosse PAL program. During his youth career, he concentrated his development and focus as a goaltender, first participating in formal leagues beginning in the first grade. Scott learned the games fundamentals through the unique experience of playing for the well-respected coaches including John Kenny, Jim Nagel, Greg Cannella, and iconic Ward Melville coach, Joe Cuzzo. Scott moved to CT in 1997, where he finished his youth and HS career’s playing in Wilton. Scott again had the opportunity to learn under the tutelage of coaches such as Guy Whitten, Mike Pressler, and JB Clarke. Scott played for head coach Paul McNulty during his HS days. Scott started in goal for Wilton for three years and was four year varsity team member. He earned All-American honors in 2002, amongst other honors noted below. After graduation from Wilton, Scott attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD on an Athletic Scholarship. Scott graduated from JHU in December of 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and G.P.A of 3.32. While at Hopkins, Scott concentrated his studies in Business Management and Anthropology.
Prior to founding Unparalleled Lacrosse in 2007, Scott was a director for Mark Millon’s Camps and Bill Pilate’s Goalie Schools. He has worked with and under many of the nation’s top college coaches and program directors including Mark Million, Bill Daye, Sal Lacasio, Bill and Trevor Tierney, Seth Tierney, Bill Dawn, and his former collegiate head coach David Pietramala. Scott has been active in the local lacrosse community serving as Head Coach of Staples HS from 2007-2009, and assistant at Stamford High School.
Scott has invested personal efforts volunteering as a youth coach in Westport, Wilton, Fairfield, and other surrounding towns. Since 2008, Scott has been contracted by multiple CONNY Lacrosse organizations to assist in providing programs with professional coaches, tryout evaluators, in depth practice plans and grade specific regimens, comprehensive playbooks for players and coaches, informational clinics for players, coaches and parents, and administrative direction, not limited to fundraising, equipment, uniform, and apparel needs. Scott has established many valuable relationships with the world’s most successful and current players, coaches, and educators. Scott staffs his Unparalleled Lacrosse programs with well-known former players such as Jesse Schwartzman, Matt Bocklett, Brendan Skakandi, Conor Ford, Kyle Barrie, Jake Byrne, Kevin Huntley, Stephen Peyser, Austin Walker, Brian Phipps, Brian Farrell, Pete Cullicini, and Chris Madalon. Scott is currently an assistant coach in his first season with Sacred Heart University, an up and coming Division I program. Scott is primarily responsible for the Pioneers Goalies, Man- Down Special Teams Unit, and assisting Head Coach Tom Mariano with the team’s defense. Scott has one older brother, Todd Smith, a 2005 graduate of Johns Hopkins University and former scholarship attackmen for the Jays. Scott currently resides in Silvermine, CT. with his Australian Shepherd Rusty.
While at Johns Hopkins University:
- Named Starting Goaltender as a Sophomore.
- Four-year Letter winner (2003-2006).
- Member of the 2005 NCAA Division I National Championship Team.
- Three NCAA Division I Final Four Tournament Appearances' (2002-2004).
- Received Teams Most Improved Player Award (2004).
- Garnered a Career Save Percentage of 71.3%.
- Achieved a Career Goals against Average of 4.92 goals per game.
- Appeared on ESPN Sports Center's Top-10 Plays, registering in at the No. 2 play of the week, after making a pair of highlight reel, one-on-one saves against Syracuse standout Mike Powell in a 17-5 win during the regular season.
- Invited to tryout with the Major League Lacrosse LA Riptide, Denver Outlaws, Boston Cannons, and Long Island Lizards (2007).
