Youth level players, Grades 3-8, will receive coaching from current Division I Coaches and Former Division I players while playing in weekly competition. Each player will focus on the individual skills and team play attributes that top Youth, HS and College programs are teaching. The primary goal of the Youth Elite and Developmental teams is player development. Through in depth instruction and our concentration on team play, we push players to maximize their individual abilities while also concentrating on the team’s success. Unparalleled Lacrosse further believes that work ethic, commitment, discipline, and positive attitude are vital keys to each team member’s individual and team success. Our philosophy ensures your player will become knowledgeable, skilled, and ready to take the next steps with their game come Spring. All teams will concentrate on offensive and defensive schemes that have been used by the top college programs and coaches. Core curriculum has been developed by current Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Sacred Heart University, a former Wilton HS All- American and Johns Hopkins National Champion Goalie, Scott Smith. UL coaches stress unselfish play on offense while pushing individuals to maximize their skills in various motion sets. Defensively, coaches will teach aggressive slide and support progressions, near man, and zone packages to maximize our team’s strengths. At the developmental level, teams will focus more on individual skill development and game awareness.

Youth Elite and Developmental team participants will play 1 game weekly against another club or town program. Games will take place in the Box Field Arena in a 6 v 6 format.  All youth teams will field 1 goalie, 2 defensemen, and 3 offensive players during game play.  Box play is different from full field outdoor lacrosse, so players who have been playing attack or midfield positions will have the opportunity to play both positions in the league as well as short stick defense. Since the league is run on a smaller field size, no long pole defenders are permitted. Defensive players will have the opportunity to work on their fundamental stick handling and footwork as a result of playing with a short stick. Offensive players will benefit from learning how to play both offensive positions, while learning how to ride, clear, play transition and both sides of the ball properly. Youth rosters are limited to 14 players to ensure ample playing time. UL rosters will consist of 1 Goalie, 4 Defensemen, 5 Middies, and 4 Attackmen per team. Youth games will consist of four fifteen minute running time quarters. Youth Leagues will follow CONNY Rules, and Certified Referees are provided for each game. Penalty time will be served.

Youth Elite Teams are geared for highly skilled players in grades 5-8. Players are deemed eligible by their current school year as of September 12th. Players who would like to participate on a UL Youth Elite Indoor team are required to have ample playing experience on top of solid skills. Players who have prior experience on an Elite or Club travel team are strong candidates for these teams. We encourage players who have participated on town A level youth teams to play in the Elite division. Players are subject to evaluation or coach’s recommendation to be considered for a team.

Youth Developmental Teams are geared for skilled and budding players in grades 3-8.  Players are deemed eligible by their current school year as of September 12th. Players who would like to participate on a UL Developmental Indoor Team should be dedicated to learning the game, improving their individual skills and confidence and be committed to take the next step in preparation for their youth and HS spring tryouts. Players should have prior playing experience. Game experience is not required. Players who have participated on town B and house league teams are best fit for developmental teams.  Developmental teams are a great way to get your son involved with the game in a fun learning and playing environment.

Our Developmental Division’s at the 3rd-6th grade level will not only play weekly games, but will also have a 20 minute skills session each week prior to their scheduled game. During skill sessions, coaches will work with younger players on fundamental skills such as catching, throwing, ground ball play, shooting, dodging, and basic offensive and defensive philosophies while preparing your son for live game play.  New players are encouraged to participate and no experience is necessary.

All youth players will need to provide their own equipment and sticks. Equipment should include Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Arm Guards, Gloves, Mouth Piece, and Protective Cup. Chest and Throat Guards will be available for interested goalies.

All Youth Players will receive equal playing time and a custom UL team jersey.
